What is Galacto-oligosaccharides (GolivitesGOS)?

Galacto-oligosaccharides (GolivitesGOS) is a functional prebiotic based on galactose as the basic unit, with molecular structure consisting of 1-7 galactosyl groups attached to galactose or glucose molecules. It is a complex mixture with more than 15 active components. Among the internationally recognized three major prebiotics, GolivitesGOS is the only oligosaccharide that exists naturally in breast milk and can be simultaneously utilized by 8 major beneficial bacteria in the human intestine, earning it the title of "Golden Prebiotic."

GolivitesGOS is a low molecular weight water-soluble dietary fiber with low viscosity, strong moisture retention, does not bind minerals, has a refreshing taste, low caloric value, sweetness only 20%-40% of sucrose, and has strong stability against both acid and heat. It does not decompose even at 180°C or pH 3, has high coloring ability, strong water retention capacity, no undesirable texture or flavor, is not digested by human digestive enzymes, and has good bifidobacteria proliferation activity.

GolivitesGOS is typically produced from lactose through β-galactosidase catalyzed transglycosylation reaction, with main components being mixtures of galactose disaccharides to galactose hexasaccharides.
