DHA, or docosahexaenoic acid, belongs to the category of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids . It is widely distributed throughout the human body and is abundant in the brain, retina and heart. In the brain, DHA makes up about 97% of the total amount of omega-3 fatty acids, and in the retina this percentage is as high as 93%.
